Description

The Eastern Spinebill is one of our favourite native Australian honeyeaters. With an incredibly long and curved bill, they are perfectly adapted to extracting nectar from tubular flowers like correa, eremophila and heath shrubs.

The wings of both Spinebills are crafted from a rich burnt orange acrylic, while their glossy black heads and pale orange chests add a delicate contrast.  Each bird features a caramel-coloured  inset eye, matching the tummy colour of the bird in flight.  The correa flowers are accented with red acrylic and hand-painted details, while the sage green stems and leaves closely match the plants found in our garden.  The muted, baby blue rippled background is framed by a gold rim.

This elegant brooch is part of our ongoing Avian Portrait Series, which started with the first brooch we ever sold.
