Description
Our Happy Humpback brooch has had a make-over to represent a genuine, unique, Australian legend – Migaloo, the white humpback whale. Bringing sunshine to the east coast!
Migaloo is a 30 year old male who has a migratory path along the east coast of Australia. He feeds on krill in the cooler regions of Antarctica then swims all the way up to the breeding grounds of the Great Barrier Reef, conveniently stopping to frolic in coastal tourist spots along his journey.
We were happy to read that Migaloo was named by Indigenous Elders from Hervey Bay and his name means “white fella”. Just another piece of real-world evidence, that being different doesn’t mean you are strange, it means you are wonderful.
Migaloo is made from vanilla coloured acrylic, with etched and hand painted details in cream. His tummy is a pearlescent white. In real life, Migaloo has brown eyes, but we have cut them from black acrylic and with white hand-painted details. Migaloo’s sunshine spurt comprises warm tones of amber, tangerine and buttercup yellow. These sunrays have been etched with water droplets that have been hand-painted.
