Description

Glossy Black Cockatoos are critically endangered. Tragically, 59% of their habit was lost in the Kangaroo Island bushfires in January. This area contained 75% of the 373 strong, population. The surviving cockatoos need so much help as their main source of food is the casuarina sheoak, which must be 10 years old to support them.

Our Glossy Black Cockatoo brooch is sitting in a sheoak and she is knitting a nest in accordance with the instructions provided by the ‘Animal Rescue Crafters Guild’.

The cockatoo is made from black acrylic with red and yellow feather insets. Her beak is light grey and she is knitting a pastel blue nest with pale yellow knitting needles. The casuarina sheoak is made from brown acrylic with hand painted needles etched in clear acrylic. There is one roll clasp at the back.
