Description
We love native Australian birds and think that the remarkable manner in which swans form mated pairs, build mound nests out in the swamplands away from predators and piggy-back their little cygnets makes swans rather special. We also get a laugh out of YouTube clips of black swans chasing people.
The composition of our brooch reminds us a little bit of the lino cut prints of Leslie van der Sluys (1939-2010), whom we admire greatly.
The brooch comprises black gloss acrylic swans swimming in a lagoon of swirly blue acrylic. The sky is pearlescent pale blue and the border is made from metallic gold acrylic. Feathers and water ripples have been hand painted. The backing is gloss black.
