Making A Difference To The World Around Us
At Quetzy we know that being kind to others and making a meaningful difference to the world around us means as much as creating lovely brooches.
We support environmental and ethical organisations who are involved in “well researched and high value” planetary re-balancing. This support often comes at a higher time and financial cost to our tiny business than is comfortable. However, we understand that short term inconvenience is fast becoming a necessity for gaining long term eco-benefit.
As humans continue to place greater pressure on ecological balance, we see how individual choices make a difference while creating positive shifts toward collective awareness. And in doing so, awareness offers greater chance of well-being for all living things. Every insect, bird, tree, fungi, micro-organism, animal and human alive on this planet. Our earth has evolved as a unique, finely tuned web of interconnected systems. We depend on it, we need it to sustain life.
Bushfire Recovery – Brooch Series
In 2020 Australia witnessed some of the worst bushfire events in history. The quantity of forest and animal species loss was staggering!
Quetzy decided to offer recovery assistance and help support workers who were installing and monitoring feeders stations. This would support the animals managing to cling on. Important work considering the risks that remaining populations faced as they were left vulnerable to predation and starvation in the post fire landscape.
With no time to waste we designed and constructed as many brooches as possible. The series allowed us to donate $2,938 in total between Nature Foundation S.A. and Animals Australia.
Together with our supporters we were able to help rebuild struggling wildlife populations.
Quetzy continue to support both groups with annual donations.

Edgar’s Mission Rescue – Design Collection
In 2017-18 we collaborated with Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary to design and construct a small collection of brooches (see below), featuring some of their rescued animals. The entire sale price for the brooches was contributed to assist rescuing and rehabilitating farmed animals. Our heart swells at the thought that we helped, just a little.
